Bio:

Rob Williams is an Account Executive at Okun Insurance, a Lighthouse Group Company.  He began his insurance career in 2007 and focuses on small group benefits, individual health insurance both on and off the Marketplace and Medicare coverage.  Rob holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Western Michigan University and currently holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.  A member of SMAHU since 2013, Rob has served as Membership Chair and is a HUPAC contributor.   In his spare time, Rob is an active half marathon runner, volunteer and lighthouse explorer.

Bio:

Crystal Scott is a Benefits Specialist at Trust Shield Insurance Group (formerly Ayres-Rice Insurance Agency) in Schoolcraft Michigan, and works with both individuals and small groups.  Crystal is a Portage Michigan native, and has resided in the Kalamazoo area all her life.  She has worked in the insurance industry for 6 years, with a total of 16 years of customer service experience.  Crystal prides herself in being a student of her profession, and spends much of her time educating herself.  In addition to being Programs and Product Development chairs for SMAHU, Crystal is also involved with her local Rotary club.  She spends her spare time outdoors, with animals, making art, traveling, or experimenting in the kitchen.

Bio:

Chuck is an independent Employee Benefit Specialist at The Miller Schuring Agency in Portage Michigan.  He began his insurance career in 1997 and proudly joined The Miller-Schuring Agency in September 2014.  A 1983 graduate of Adrian College in Adrian Michigan, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing.  Chuck is very active in his professional organizations.  In addition to being our Local President this year, he also is an active member of The Society of Financial Service Professionals and Past State President of The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  Chuck is currently on “sabbatical” from many years of coaching youth baseball, football, soccer and hockey although the passion still runs deep.  He loves the outdoors, in all seasons, but truly enjoys summer on the beaches of Lake Michigan.

Bio:

Debbie Schnelker is an Account Manager with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.  She has worked in the Health Insurance field for over 30 years, on the agency side, TPA side as well as several years as a Stop Loss underwriter.  She received her Bachelor of Business Degree from Western Michigan University with a major in Finance.  Debbie jointed the SMAHU Board in 2013 as the Treasurer.

Jeff is the Director of Agent Relations for the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM).  Jeff joined SMAHU in 2001. He has served the local as a Board Member, Media Chair, Legislative Chair and President. He has also served the State Board as Legislative Chair and Media Chair. Jeff is a HUPAC Contributor and a Life and Qualifying Soaring Eagle Member of NAHU’s Leading Producer’s Round Table.

Karen is an Agent Sales Manager with Partners Insurance Agency of Southwest Michigan, Inc.  She has been a member of SMAHU since November 2003 and an active Board Member for the past 12 years.  She has served our chapter as Awards Chair, Secretary, Treasurer (3 years),  Legislative Chair (2 years), Vice President, President, Past President, and most currently our HUPAC chair.

Tammy is a Director of Marketing for Grotenhuis.  She has been a member of SMAHU since 2007, serving on the board for the past five years in the roles of Programs Chair, Vice President, President, and currently as Communications Chair.  Tammy is a HUPAC Contributor, a 2016 qualifier for the Triple Crown Award and an Eagle qualifier for 2015 and 2016 Leading Producers Round Table.   Tammy is married with one teenage son.  She enjoys living in the country and staying active in the out-of-doors with gardening, mountain biking and involvement with her son's Boy Scout Troop and FFA swine projects.

Bio:

Christine King has worked in the insurance industry in Employee Benefits since 2005.  Christine is a Client Manager at Hub International.  She has been a member of NAHU since 2012.  She has her Life, Accident and Health Producer and Counselor licenses.  Christine specializes in strategic development as well as claims and benefit analysis.  She is responsible for day to day employee benefit account management including contract review, underwriting, renewals, education and communication.

David Bell is a Senior Sales Executive with Priority Health in their Southwest Michigan Region where he focuses on new business sales in the large group market on both a fully-insured and self-funded basis .  He has been at Priority Health for nearly 13 years.  Prior to that, he spent 14 years as a Senior Account Executive at Physicians Health Plan of Mid-Michigan.  David is a graduate of Northwood University in Midland, Michigan where he earned a BBA with a dual major in Management and Marketing.  He is married with four children and two grand-children.  He also enjoys biking, golfing and boating.

Pam has over twenty-five years of experience in the employee benefits field, specifically working for Third Party Administrators (TPAs) in Michigan. Pam began her career in benefit administration in 1987, working for Pension and Group Services, Inc. (P&G) a well known TPA in Kalamazoo, MI. P&G was subsequently acquired by Health Risk Management (HRM), a large managed care company located in Minneapolis and the company became HRM Claim Management. While at HRM, Pam implemented FSA Plans for The Boeing Company, Ameritech, Corning and Bank Boston. Pam founded Arcadia Benefits Group, Inc. in 2004, also based in Kalamazoo and serves as President/CEO.

Pam has extensive experience in COBRA, Cafeteria Plan (FSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) administration. She was in the Charter Class of the CFC (Certified in Flexible Compensation) designation through the Employer’s Council on Flexible Compensation (ECFC) in Washington, DC in 1995. She now holds both the ACFC (Advanced Certification in Flexible Compensation) and the COBRA Administration Specialist (CAS) designations introduced by ECFC in 2012
